Two members of the Tomo-Group, Alexander Götz and Dr. Benjamin Apeleo Zubiri, represented the Institute of Micro and Nanostructure Research (IMN) at the 16th International Conference on X-Ray Microscopy (XRM 2024), which took place in Lund, Sweden, from August 12-16, 2024. The conference brought together a global community of researchers to present the latest breakthroughs in X-ray microscopy, with applications ranging from materials science to life sciences.

In this conference, Alex Götz delivered a flash talk on “Scale-bridging nano-CT and micro-CT analysis of hierarchical pore networks,” highlighting the challenges and innovations in multiscale tomography. Dr. Benjamin Apeleo Zubiri presented his work on “How to overcome the inherent trade-off between accessible volume and spatial resolution in nanotomography,” offering insights into advancements in imaging techniques.

The conference provided an exceptional platform for scientific exchange, with a vibrant community of researchers engaging in discussions that spurred new ideas and collaborations. In addition to focused oral presentations, the three dense poster sessions allowed for productive interaction among peers, enhancing the experience of knowledge sharing.

Highlights of the event included the conference dinner in Malmö, featuring a lively performance by BeamDump, a band composed of researchers from the Canadian Light Source. Participants also had the opportunity to tour the MAX IV synchrotron facility, renowned as one of the most advanced synchrotron radiation sources in the world.

Overall, XRM 2024 was a success, enabling our researchers to showcase their cutting-edge work and engage with the international X-ray microscopy community.
